For more than 200 years, the Sabatier® brand, marked with a Lion, has proudly signed its knives and kitchen accessories and continues to contribute to the influence of French gastronomic culture.

The Meaning Behind the Craft

What does fully Forged Mean to you?

A fully forged knife is made from a single piece of steel, shaped for strength, balance, and durability. This gives the knife a solid feel in the hand, better control while cutting, and the lasting quality expected from traditional French craftsmanship.

Why does Nitrogen-Strengthened benefit me?

Nitrogen-strengthened steel is reinforced with nitrogen to improve hardness, durability, and corrosion resistance. This helps the blade stay sharper for longer, perform reliably in everyday use, and maintain the strength needed for precise cutting.

Are Lion Sabatier knives made in France?

Many Lion Sabatier knives are made in Thiers, France, reflecting the brand’s long heritage in French cutlery craftsmanship. As manufacturing can vary by range or product, we recommend checking the individual products by recognising the French flag in the bottom right corner of the product.
